An Australian documentary about the role of women in Asian action cinema to film abroad this month

Filmmakers Maria Tran, Nancy Trieu and Therese Chen set out on their journey East to Hong Kong, Vietnam and the Philippines. They are set to investigate the role of women in Asian action cinema for their self-funded independent documentary titled Femme Fatales: Seen & Unheard.

They are set to spend 10 days filming for the documentary abroad, with a Sydney departure is scheduled on the 11 November. They will be interviewing & interacting with former female action stars, emerging actors, martial artists, film directors, producers and academics who will share their insights and experiences.

When asked about the project Maria believes that “If there’s one thing I would like to add to Australian cinemas, is female-led stories in the martial arts action genre. This project will allow me to connect with some of the world’s most talented, showcase their plight and allow the film industry to see the often-unspoken contributions of women in this male-dominated genre.”

Here’s there filming schedule maybe you’ll catch them in action?

Hong Kong, 12-16 November
Vietnam, 17-20 November
The Philippines, 21-22 November
