Blackpink sign with Interscope for international releases; Jennie goes solo for new release

Expect to see more Blackpink everywhere, as the girl group have signed with Interscope Records, one of Universal Music’s labels, for their global releases!

According to the official YG Life website, Lucian Grainge, The chairman and CEO of Universal Music has stated that the band will be his ‘priority project’ explaining “I’m happy that Interscope family now shares a relationship with YG through BLACKPINK. We will work on BLACKPINK’s amazing success based on the global resources and professional knowledge of Universal Music Group. We hope that the public keeping keen eyes on BLACKPINK will extend further into the whole world”.

This news comes before the announcement of Jennie‘s solo single release and music video titled ‘Solo’. The music video has soared to 62 Million views and upon it’s release was #1 trending on YouTube Australia, amongst charting on the iTunes charts in over 40 different countries. It has also been announced that we can expect future solo releases from each member of the group.

Blackpink‘s EP ‘Square Up’ debuted at #40 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, cementing it as the highest-charting release to date by an all-female K-pop group, also hitting #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Who’s excited to see them take the world by storm?
