Malaysia’s Ze Rebelle (formerly known as Ze!) and Perth’s Tomás Ford make an unlikely pair. Ze is a Malaysian electro-popstar, while Tomás is best known for his cult cabaret spectaculars. They’ve been collaborating since 2011 and are joining forces for a couple of weekends in WA.
Ze’s style consist of a high camp dose of fluorescent glamour, electroclash music and hypercolour visuals. She sits somewhere in between M.I.A. and Robyn.
Tomás Ford is a bit like a one man punk rock show, but with pumping synths, and costume changes designed by his mum. He shows off the darkest, weirdest parts of himself around the world.
The duo first met at Ze’s showcase at a music conference in 2010 and hit it off, Tomás invited her to Perth for some shows in 2011. After a few aborted tour plans and musical collaberations, the pair finally take on Australia next month, and eventually Malaysia in 2019.
