Month-long Studio Ghibli showcase coming to Australian cinemas

Studio Ghibli fans, rejoice! ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) is bringing a month-long showcase of Studio Ghibli films to cinemas throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Celebrate! Studio Ghibli will feature a program of 23 Studio Ghibli films screening from 24 August to 25 September.

Catch classics such as My Neighbour Totoro (1988), Spirited Away (2001) and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), as well as some of the studio’s newer releases like The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013). The line-up also includes a documentary on Ghibli filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness (2014).

Japanese and English versions of the films will be shown, with English subtitles. Most films will also be screened in their original 35mm to highlight the stunning visual quality that Studio Ghibli is known for.
