K-Pop at the 2018 AMAs: Tiffany Young, NCT 127, and Kris Wu rock the red carpet and BTS win!

The annual American Music Awards returned this past week to celebrates the latest and greatest talents of the contemporary music scene. This year was no exception with artists such as Taylor Swift and Cardi B sweeping up the awards.

After BTS’ US television debut in 2017, many more K-pop artists have seen themselves walking down the AMA red carpet, with the likes of Girls Generations Tiffany Young, NCT 127 and Kris Wu all getting their time to shine.

Here are some highlights for the K-pop artists:

1. BTS wins!

After being the first K-pop artist to walk and perform at the AMA’s BTS steals the title for the first K-pop artist to ever win an AMA. After beating the likes of Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes, BTS takes home the title of Favourite Social Artist.

2. NCT 127 red carpet debut

The ten-member group makes their red carpet debut in dazzling matching black tuxedos. At their red carpet interview, they spoke about their new song “Regular” and their highly anticipated comeback.

3. Tiffany Young walks the red carpet

Girl Generation member Tiffany Young takes on the AMA red carpet in a colourful Versace dress after being signed with an American agency and releasing her new song “Teach You”. Fans even caught her hiding gummy bears in her dress! She made history by being the first Female K-Pop Star to walk the AMA carpet. Watch her talk to Entertainment Tonight here:

4. Kris Wu also makes his AMA debut

Former EXO member and Chinese solo artist/actor Kris Wu walk down the red carpet, with his hit song “Like That” hitting the Billboard Hot 100s and his debut album on the way.

What an exciting time for K-pop artists in America! Let’s hope we see more of them.
