Australian Music Week adds film to its schedule; set to premiere I Am The Blues

Australian Music Week (AMW) is a special conference that runs insightful industry panels alongside with some of the country’s best up-and-coming bands and artists. Taking place in early November in Cronulla, just outside of Sydney, it is an opportunity for those wanting to get involved and learn more about the industry.

In addition to the panels and live entertainment, AMW will be hosting some other extracurricular sideshows including the Hifi Days Festival. This event will be free and all ages. There will also be a special intimate live show from Australian jazz vocalist Vince Jones on Saturday November 5 at St. Andrews Church, Cronulla, doors open at 7:30PM.

Furthermore, the AMW and our sister site The AU Review will be presenting the special screening and live soundtrack performance of the new film I Am The Blues. The exclusive live performance will feature Australian Blues Musician Ray Beadle and legendary American Blues artist Chris Cain. The film’s Australian premiere will take place on Saturday November 5 with doors opening at 7PM.

The film, which we covered at SXSW (you can read our review HERE), visits blues musicians rooted in the genre’s hay-day, many in their 80s, still living in the American deep south and touring the Chitlin’ Circuit. Larry Heath from Heath Media (publishers of The AU Review and The Iris) is serving as the film programmer for the festival. This is one not to be missed. Get tickets HERE.

Tickets to all Australian Music Week showcase and panel events are on sale now can be purchased from oztix.
