2NE1 (re: To Anyone or 21) was a four-member girl group formed by YG Entertainment in 2009. At the peak of their careers members CL, Dara, Park Bom and Minzy were considered one of the most successful girl groups in Korea.
While they don’t have a particularly long discography, all of their albums have peaked at the number one position on the Gaon Album Chart. They’ve also scored nine number one hits on the Gaon Digital Chart, with “Try to Follow Me“, “Go Away“, “Lonely“, “I Am the Best“, “Ugly”, “I Love You“, “Falling in Love”, “Missing You”, and “Come Back Home”
Unfortunately, in 2016 after a long-term hiatus, Minzy left the group and 2NE1 disbanded not long after. However, since then most members are having pretty successful solo careers.
Leader CL’s first solo single, “The Baddest Female”, was released on 28 May 2013 while she was part of 2NE1. Since then, she’s debuted in the US and has released songs like “Hello Bitches” and “Lifted” off her EP of the same name. She was also in a movie Mile 22 that starred Mark Wahlberg.
Dara became a judge on a Filipino reality singing competition show Pinoy Boyband Superstar, alongside Filipino top stars Yeng Constantino, Vice Ganda, and Aga Muhlach. She’s been in beauty related TV shows and had roles in Korean films such as Cheese in the Trap and a lead role in a web series We Broke Up.
Since leaving the group, Minzy has signed with a new label and gone on to release a solo EP Ninao and starred in a Korean variety program Sister’s Slam Dunk.
