f(x)’s Amber has released a surprise video entitled “CROSSING Teaser“, which features black-and-white footage and Amber’s voice over in English.

Amber’s narration says:

“What do you want to be when you grow up? What are your dreams? Who are your role models? Why did you chose this path? Is this what you like to do? Is this what you want to do? What motivates you? Do you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life? Is this what makes you happy? Are you even happy?”

“For a while, the answers to the questions and more were always, ‘I don’t know,’” she admits, as the video shows her pulling out a marker and thinking about what to write on a piece of paper. “But I think I know the answers now. Piece by piece, I want to show you.”

In the video she tapes a piece of paper to the wall with the word “CROSSING”.

Amber then announced that her new digital single “On My Own” will be released this Wednesday the 18th May. According to reports Amber wrote the lyrics for the song and participated in its arrangement. The song is said to be based on her personal experiences and speak about the effort to not lose hope when the going gets tough.

The song seems to continue Amber’s support of issues of self-confidence and self-esteem, similar to her tracks “Beautiful” and “Borders“.
