In a move rare for the Hollywood scene, Eurasian Taiwanese youngster Patrick Brasca‘s collaboration with his mentor and Mandopop superstar Jay Chou has been selected as the official worldwide theme song for the third installment to Dreamworks animation Kung Fu Panda 3.
A mix of Hip hop and traditional Chinese elements, the melody was written by the talented Brasca himself, with the Chinese lyrics written by Jay Chou’s right-hand lyricist Vincent Fang. The English lyrics were written by singer-songwriter Celeste Syn, a newcomer to Chou’s record company JVR music.
A great achievement for the 16-year old, Patrick received the honour of many ‘first times’ with the experience of writing this song for “Kung Fu Panda”. It became his first time attending a press conference, his first time writing a song for a movie soundtrack, his first time going to Shanghai, his first time recording music in LA, and last but not least, his first time being in a music video with Jay Chou himself!
But as the song says, if you just try your best, you will succeed one day! Listen to the inspiring and poppy song below:
