It’s been a hectic couple of years for Mandopop star JJ Lin. Ever since I can remember, he’s been releasing albums consistently each year since his debut in 2006, and on top of that, has also written many a hit song for a slurry of artists, from S.H.E to Jolin Tsai.
His record label Warner Music Taiwan has announced that JJ Lin is taking a year off from the music industry for a well deserved rest.
The past two years have been especially busy for Lin, who on top of such commitments, won Best Male Mandarin Artist at the 2014 Golden Melody Awards which shot him into the stratosphere of critical acclaim.
After that, Lin decided to up his game in 2015, releasing not one, but two albums-one filled with his more conservative hits, and another experimental album which took him two years to complete, a move that once again helped him to garner international acclaim for his use of the dummy head recording technique.
Appearing this week first as Lala Hsu‘s duet partner on popular reality singing show “I Am Singer 4” for the show’s finale, he made another appearance at the “20th Worldwide Chinese Music Charts Awards” where he won “Asia-wide Most Influential Singer” and “Hong Kong/Taiwan Best Album” for his To M.E n Myself album.
Here he also announced to the heartbreak of fans that he has no plans to release any new music for the next year. When asked to elaborate, he laughed and said that he had ‘paid’ all his music debts, because there had been too many people asking for songs from him in the past few years.
To cushion the blow, his company Warner Music Taiwan assures fans that JJ Lin will still be attending events and make appearances.
