The annual MIDEM event in Cannes, France  will be held from the 6th to the 9th of June, 2017.

This year, the conference will focus on what they describe as the ‘new golden age for the music industry’, namely shining a spotlight on music streaming and why industry professionals should embrace it.

According to the IFPI, revenues from digital music streaming platforms skyrocketed to 45.2% in 2015, overtaking downloads to constitute the music industry’s primary digital revenue stream.

This industry is also expected to grow from a worth of $USD 4.93 billion to 7.52 billion by 2020, reinforcing the need to embrace such changes.

To prep conference goers for such changes, this year’s conference will feature keynote speakers, touch on copyright laws, current and future legal developments in music and technology, and shine a spotlight on monetisation and international development for the music industries.

Attendees can also expect to be able to participate in robust conversations with speakers both formally and informally, and will also be given the chance to participate in speed meeting sessions for them to coordinate with other industry professionals.

So for all the music nerds and professionals out there, this is an enticing professional development opportunity you definitely won’t want to miss out on!
