JAY B has released his debut project SOMO:FUME, via H1GHR MUSIC.
The highly anticipated EP sets up the solo chapter of JAY B’s illustrious career, which has included him as leader of K-Pop group GOT7, and most recently a member of renowned hip-hop label H1GHR MUSIC.
SOMO:FUME shares the same pronunciation as ‘expendable’ in Korean, the first of a series of word plays and ironies to represent JAY B’s focus on long lasting purpose; while ‘SOMO’ stands for ‘style of my own’, ‘FUME’ represents a lingering presence.
JAY B, in collaboration with veteran artists like MAMAMOO‘s WheeIn, rising artists like JUNNY and g1nger, and producers including GroovyRoom, Cha Cha Malone, WOOGIE, and GRAY, embraces his newfound sense of artistic freedom, delivering his most personalised project yet.
The release is also accompanied with the official music video for ‘BTW’ featuring Jay Park.
JAY B is a powerful vocalist, who is equally impressive on stage as he is in the studio; a dynamic artist who is devoted to creating thoughtful compositions that are as sonically progressive as they are experiential. For his solo debut, it only makes sense that SOMO:FUME is full of lush, late night R&B and bright, yet introspective pop numbers.
‘Switch It Up’ is the first single from the project, released earlier this summer in tandem with JAY B’s H1GHR MUSIC signing announcement.
