Virtual global music festival SMTOWN LIVE heated up the “first row seat” of stay-at-home viewers all around the world!
The SMTOWN LIVE “Culture Humanity” concert streamed live worldwide for free from 1PM (KST) on January 1, through various platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, V LIVE, and more. The free event recorded 35.83 million streams from 186 different countries proving its explosive attention.
Executive Producer Lee SooMan addressed to the viewers in the opening of the concert that “Music has no boundaries. We can communicate without language, through music, and music can be a comfort and cure for each and every one of us.”
The opening was followed by a star-studded lineup of performances from the likes of AESPA, BAEKHYUN, Ginzo, IMLAY, KAI, KANGTA, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, NCT U, Raiden, Red Velvet, SUPER JUNIOR, SuperM, TAEMIN, TAEYEON, TVXQ, and WayV. Each performance combined vivid AR technology and graphic effects.
Moreover, the concert saw the release of a video teaser of SHINee’s comeback, promised for later in 2021.
At the end of the concert, artists came together with a video for ‘Hope’ that contained support New Year’s greetings.
Although viewers were not together physically offline, it was a true music festival that everyone could enjoy.
SM Entertainment has successfully hosted SMTOWN LIVE concerts since 2008 in major cities around the world, including Seoul, New York, LA, Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai.
