The team behind the colourful and experiential Chef David have set their sites on the Melbourne’s east, opening Chef David Kew

In true David’s fashion, Chef David Kew at first appears more like a modern art museum than an elevated all-you can-eat hot pot restaurant and sushi train. The foyer, illuminated with neon typography and curated with neon art, takes you through to a curtain of chains, where guests are discreetly met by staff who escort them through a secret door unlocking a new world of fine foods. Indeed, Chef David Kew is a premium dining experience, serving both traditional and fusion dishes.

There are two ways to enjoy Chef David Kew: the Shabu Shabu menu and the À La Carte menu.

Shabu Shabu is seated at the train, where each guest is treated to their very own hot pot! Order a broth and choose any ingredients from the train – with over 40 different ingredient options, each ingredient is sign-posted with hot pot cooking instructions, so you know how to cook it to perfection!

Additionally, the restaurant offers an extensive À La Carte menu. For an intrepid dining experience, be sure to try the Uni Ikura Chrashi – premium grade fresh Tasmanian sea urchin on a bed of sushi rice served with salmon caviar.

The drinks menu includes a near-exclusively Australian wine list. Most excitingly, a collection of rare sake and whiskies are sold by the glass or bottle.

“Chef David Kew has a strong focus on the freshest of seafood and premium cuts of meats, all paired with fine wine, cocktails, our famous sake collection. The all-you-can-eat aspect of both the hot pot and sushi train is something we haven’t done before either; it’s already a favourite with our customers,” says owner Liam Zhou
